Hi,
Just wanted to let you know about this little thingy I wrote called essay evader. You'll never have to write an essay again, or at least you'll have a good excuse ready for your teacher if you missed one. This program will sit and wait for processes that you define in an ini file to open, and when they do, it shuts them down and shows an error message you decide. Error messages can be defined within the same ini file, the ini can be edited on the fly while the program is running. It can also be loaded when windows starts, and will shut down with a simple hotkey, although you need to use the startup program to remove it from system startup, but that program is also included. But there's a readme, so yeah, to download it, go
Click this link.
If you get any problems, lem know. It's just a quick thing I wrote this evening.
Just commented the INI more thurrally, so should be easyer to understand how to add more processes, although that shouldn't be too dificult in the first place, but now its like documented propperly. If you have problems mail me or something.
hi, I was interested to know how a program that closes processes would help you avoid esays unless it made the machine inopperable or somethingsomething that would make so that you could not go on the internet or something so you did not have to do research or something
what the hell man? i'm quite confused.
Ok, basically, let's say you have to write an essay and you don't want to.
Now lets say that either a: you need to get an excuse for your teacher or b: you need to get an excuse for your parents.
So basically you make it wait for your text editor of choice (e.g. Microsoft word), and pop up a neet error message to convince them that it's just not gonna work preferably let them try to fix it them selves, hopefully they won't be able to. Of course you'll have to avoid telling them how you fixed it if you use word later, but that's the general idea. But yeah you could also block internet explorer from opening, to prevent research. Or excel for that matter
honestly I don't like the idea. what if my micro soft word get's messed up for real?
I dout it, it's just waiting for word's process (in this case, winword.exe) to launch, and when it does *smack* it shuts it down. I've tested it on my own word, and nothing happened, but obviously if there's some odd thing that will screw up by killing the process for you then true. But it's basically the same as pressing control alt delete and ending stuff from the task manager, except this goes way faster, and shows an error message that the program fabricates, so it's not word that fabricates the actual message, the program is just looking in the ini, and then pops up a message box with the thingy you wrote after the = sign.
Nice little app. With lapin to hide our internet/msn/mud/mp3 windows etc.. and this little tool we got it set. thanks man.
this is gotta be the dumbest thing
